Pokemon Challenge Count Down to X and Y Day 33 (8 days to go)
So Yes i missed a day, i was a bit over whelmed with school, exams, and being sick so im gonna do 2 day. Im gonna start with the two charizard mega evolutions. We are going to go over their typing and what it means in terms of weaknesses, the stat buffs they get and so forth.
Ok so lets start with Charizard Y.Its design is sleek and love the jagged spikes and arm wings that were added as well as a lengthened tail upon coming in it takes 50% of its health from stealth Rock, nothing new. After it mega Evolves it gains the drought ability and its special attack increases. Drought will weaken the water type moves to doing 1.0x damage while increasing its own fire moves. It also allows charizard Y to freely carry Solar Beam and not have to worry about the charge up. Its 4x weak to rock, 2x weak to electric, and water, is immune to ground takes .5x damage from fairy, fire, fighting, and steel while taking .25x damage from grass and bug. Now one cool thing is having this guy on your sun team is that now you have 2 drought users, but one can set up perma-sun after an opposing weather pokemon comes into play since you choose when to mega evolve.
Next is Charizard X. This guy got way too much hype even for Charizard standards. Dont get me wrong I love its design the black and blue is sweet and yes i love the blue flames coming from it mouth. I know some people have complained about this but honestly its no different the the tail. I imagine it has glans at the corners of its mouth that the flames come from, similar to the lines tail flames. Now upon entering battle this guy will still loose 50% of its health as it has yet to mega evolve from it normal from. After it mega evolves it trades the flying type for dragon, Finally, gets a boost in its attack stat and gains a new ability tough claws to power up physical contact moves (sorry earthquake). this is cool cuz flame charge, flareblitz and fire funch will be good on this guy, not to mention dragon claw, and outrage and finally thunder punch.
Now about its typing. I have heard some people complain “oh now its a dragon, fairies will destroy it” well actually no. Fire types resist fairy so it only takes neutral damage. it will be taking 2x from dragon, rock and ground, and .5x from bug, steel and .25x from fire, and grass. it is definitely interesting but I have a feeling it may remain low in the tiers because of rocks, in which case it will be a power house.
Both have their merits and both have excellent designs and I am excited for both as well as the potential for the other kanto starters getting second meag forms.
